【摘要】:1EquipmentThispartofBS5440specifiestheventilationrequirementsforneworreplacementgasappliancesfordomesticornon-domesticpurposesutilizing1st,2ndor3rdfamilygaseswhichcarrytheCEmarkandwitharatedheatinputnotexceeding70kWbasedonnetCV(netcalorificvalue).ItmayalsobeusedforinstallationsofapplianceswhicharenotrequiredundertheGasAppliances(Safety)Regulations:1995[5]tocarrytheCEmark,e.g.usedappliances.Thisstandarddoesnotcover:a)LPGinstallationscoveredbytherequirementsofBS5482-2andinstallationswithallgasescoveredbyBS5482-3;b)anygasinstallationsincaravans,holidayhomesorresidentialparkhomesconstructedtoconformtoBSEN721orBS3632asappropriate,whichwereinstalledatthetimeofconstruction;c)decorativefueleffectgasappliancesofthetypecoveredbyBS5871-3.NOTE1StandardsthatshouldbeconsultedarelistedinnormativereferencesClause2andthebibliographyattheendofthestandard.NOTE2MaintenancerequirementsrelatingtoexistingventsaregiveninClause7.NOTE3Theinstallershouldcheckthedatagivenwithanappliancetoestablishthebasisonwhichtheheatinputisgiven.Thedatainthisstandardreferstoheatinputexpressedintermsofnetcalorificvalues(CV)withconversiongivenfornaturalgasgrossCVquotedinbracketswhereappropriate.Theratioofgross:netheatinputisapproximately1.11:1fornaturalgas,1.09:1forpropaneand1.08:1forbutane.Forexample,convert9kWinputbasedongrossCVfornaturalgastotheequivalentnetCVinputasfollows.Netinput=9.0/1.11=8.1kW.Thechangetothemethodofquotinginputratingisnotintendedtohaveanysignificanteffectonthesizesofventsrequiredforgasappliancesascomparedwiththepreviousversionofthisstandard(BS5440-2:1989).Thedifferencesingross:netinputratiobetweennaturalgas,propaneandbutanearemarginalandthisfactorhasbeentakenintoaccountwhenspecifyingthemethodofcalculatingventrequirementsin5.2.1.2CompetenceItisessentialthatpersonscarryingouttheinstallationofanygasappliancebecompetenttodoso,and,inthecaseofanyworkthatissubjecttothecurrentGasSafety(InstallationandUse)Regulations,itisessentialtocomplywiththeseregulations.Itisessentialthatpersonswhodesigntheventilationsystemorinstallationhaveaknowledgeandunderstandingofthestandardsandregulationsthatapplytoensurethatthecompletedplanswillproduceasafeandsatisfactoryinstallation.COMMENTARYANDRECOMMENDATIONSON1.2Atthetimeofpublication,thebodywithHSEapprovaltooperateandmaintainaregisterofbusinesseswhoare"membersofaclassofpersons"istheCouncilforRegisteredGasInstallers(CORGI).ThusitisessentialthatallbusinessorselfemployedgasfittersshouldberegisteredwithCORGI.GuidanceontheindividualcompetencyrequiredforgasworkisgivenintheHealthandSafetyCommission'sApprovedCodeOfPractice(ACOP)—Standardsoftraininginsafegasinstallation.[6]PersonsdeemedcompetenttocarryoutgasworkarethosewhoholdacurrentcertificateofcompetenceinthetypeofactivitytobeconductedissuedundertheACOParrangements,orbyacertificationbodyaccreditedbytheUnitedKingdomAccreditationService(UKAS).
