【摘要】:Thispracticecoversdosimetricprocedurestobefollowedinfacilitycharacterization,processqualification,androutineprocessingusingX-rays(bremsstrahlung)toensurethattheentireproducthasbeentreatedwithinanacceptablerangeofabsorbeddoses.Otherproceduresrelatedtofacilitycharacterization,processqualification,androutineprocessingthatmayinfluenceabsorbeddoseintheproductarealsodiscussed.TheestablishmentofeffectiveorregulatorydoseandX-rayenergylimitsarenotwithinthescopeofthispractice.Incontrasttomonoenergeticgammarays,thebremsstrahlungenergyspectrumextendsfromlowvaluesuptothemaximumenergyoftheelectronsincidentontheX-raytarget(seeSection5andtheAppendix).Dosimetryisonlyonecomponentofatotalqualityassuranceprogramforanirradiationfacility.Othercontrolsbesidesdosimetrymayberequiredforspecificapplicationssuchasmedicaldevicesterilizationandfoodpreservation.Fortheirradiationoffoodandtheradiationsterilizationofhealthcareproducts,otherspecificISOstandardsexist.Forfoodirradiation,seeISO15562:1998,PracticeforDosimetryinElectronandBremsstrahlungIrradiationFacilitiesforFoodProcessing(ASTMPracticeE1431).Fortheradiationsterilizationofhealthcareproducts,seeISO11137:1995,SterilizationofHealthCareProducts-RequirementsforValidationandRoutineControl-RadiationSterilization.InthoseareascoveredbyISO11137,thatstandardtakesprecedence.Note1-Forguidanceintheselection,calibration,anduseofspecificdosimetersandinterpretationofabsorbeddoseintheproductfromdosemeasurements,seethedocumentslistedin2.1,2.2,and2.3.Note2-Bremsstrahlungcharacteristicsaresimilartogammaraysfromradioactiveisotopes.SeePracticeE1204andE1702fortheapplicationsofdosimetryinthecharacterizationandoperationofgamma-rayirradiationfacilities.Forinformationconcerningelectronbeamirradiationtechnologyanddosimetry,seePracticesE1431andE1649.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
